It’s rare for anything interesting to come on television. Sure, there are some amazing shows out there. But many of them have roots in comic books at this point.
We aren’t complaining. The Digital Worm loves comics and we look forward to more of those releases.
But they aren’t super original. They don’t make us sit up in our chairs and yell, “What!” at our screens.
But this….this new show made us do that. We instantly got a chuckle out of the idea.
Shaq and Ken Jeong Team-Up Show
No. Ken Jeong and Shaq are not going to be superheroes.
This is going to be an unscripted TBS show where Ken and Shaq do part-time jobs. The idea instantly made us think of Dirty Jobs.
Dirty Jobs, if it was funny and entertaining. Not that DJ wasn’t entertaining, but when these two guys get together, there are laughs aplenty. We can’t help but think the idea for the show came from the duo going head to head on Drop the Mic. The working title for the show is Unqualified.
Not only with the pair have to do odd jobs, but the people who hire them will have no idea that the actor and former NBA star will be showing up for work.
Only the pilot has been ordered. As we all know, if it doesn’t impress, TBS might not order a full season. We’re hoping this isn’t the case.
Shaq is a former NBA player who loves to laugh. He was the Rookie of the Year, has multiple championship rings, as well as multiple MVP awards. He is currently on Inside the NBA, which airs on TNT.
Besides playing basketball, Shaq has released 5 hip-hop albums, one of which went platinum. As far as acting, he has been in several films, on tv shows, done voiceover acting for animated shows as well as video games.
There isn’t much he hasn’t done. Although, this new show would definitely be a first.
Ken also has an interesting history. He graduated from Duke and went to medical school at UNC. Before acting, he was a physician. His breakout role came in 2009’s The Hangover.
The Digital Worm is hoping this show takes off and we’re also hoping it’s going to be as funny as we think it’s going to be.
The interesting dynamics of these two very different people could the right combination for a hit show.
We’ll be keeping our eyes on this one and post updates as we find out about them.
